85 Granada 2.8 Ghia x and a 2.8i

I have owned over 30 Granadas over the years ,made good money in trading them some years back .
Ive owned a black 2.8i ex-works car on and off since 91 and the green 2.8Ghia x for over a year which was originally bought for spares ,but found it too good to break

Another ebay special this one had only done 35,000miles ,sold it three years ago

Well i'm blowed!!!! that Green Ghia x is one of my old cars, i owned it in 2005 but sold it on as it had a lot of starting problems i thought it had been scrapped by now, like your Black 2.8i special my current car is the Red special in the forum header.

This is how i got it in June 2008
Its was smashed up by prev owner who ran a pub in Leatherhead ,Surrey
I bought from ebay for £400 !
Its been stood a year and when we hot quiet at work got it MOTed and welded
It still needs wings and a bumper to make 100% but its presentable car

Where did it need welding, does it still have starting problems? the front doesn't look that bad mainly the bumper, is the front panel bent?

The front o/s/ floor and jacking point and o/s/f/ inner wing behind header tank and under o/s/f/ wing .
The front wings want replacing really both rusting in usual places and the o/s one was bent in the shunt
The Front panel has been repaired by me and the front bumper needs replacing ,it was minor damage but sourcing bits for these is a nightmare .
The rear bumper is a bit bent too !
The only other bit of rust is the n/s/f/ door which is just starting to go .
The car is a bit strange as the footwell lights ,door lights and lights on alarm are all not standard ,do you know who did these ?
Its also had the clocks sprayed silver ?
Im amazed i found someone who knows the car !
Is starts on the button but has a fuel problem at present -think its stale fuel but it drove to Salfords in Surrey yesterday for the Morleys Meet ,pictures on osf site

Some nice pics there, i see Muttleys car was there as well, are you going to the old skool Ford night at the A127 cafe on the 19th? i will be going in my Red 2.8i special and meeting up with the Transit boys, i was responsible for the footwell lights and lights in the doors, i have footwell lights in my special i know they are not standard but they do make a difference at night, sounds like your car has rusted a bit since i had it, the only body repair i did to that car was i think it was the drivers side cill not from rust but a large dent which i pulled out and levelled up with filler, the idling was bad when i had it and blowing out the jets in the carb helped in the short term, the rear spoiler was also fitted by me and front spotlights which seem to have disappeared, try the banger boys for replacement bumpers.

No wont be making the A127 meet but dong the boxhill meet on the 31st .
Yes the lights should have been standard they look great.
Can you shed any light why its badged as a 2.3 when its actually a 2.8 on log book etc
Its had some paint in the past the whole of the o/s/ from the coachline down ,and the n/s/ lower half is stonechipped different to normal and the n/s/ sill has had prev repair .
The main areas of welding were in my view due to it standing for two years - all my fault !
Spotlights were smashed in the accident .!




I sold my black one in 2001 and it was showroom condition ,only six years later it was rotten and its taking lots of work to bring it back to life

It was like that when i got it, even the MOT tester put it down as 2.3, it never had stonechip paint on when i had it, the whole car was in pretty good condition just shows what 4 years can do, the bottom corners of the rear screen had been repaired cos they filled in the join between the scuttle and the rear quarter, do you have any major plans for the car or leaving it more or less as it is, also where is Boxhill?

Boxhill is on the A24 Near Dorking,Surrey about 10 minutes from Junction 9 M25
As far as the car goes ,will try to get new wings etc and smarten it up ,wont ever be concours but a nice car .
Thinking of respraying bottom half and doing all the minor dents etc next year if funds allow

Is your Grey 2.8i special reg no A573PBH still around? DVLA site says it has not been taxed since end of December 2000, i'm asking as my mate is looking for one.

i sold it in 98 to a young lad from north london ,i think its unlikely but it might be garaged somewhere ,it was in reasonable nick and only has 111,000miles from new with 3 owners ,(i bought back 2twice )

UB is a Yorkshire reg! We had TUB 238M on a transit. It's hard to find any granny that's nasty, thye are all nice cars in their own way.....

Good work on the black special, its along time since I have seen that one.

Little update i sold the green one back a few months ago and i now have two black 2.8is
My one is painted and going back together as we speak

The 2.8i you bought recently was it the Black one in Scotland by any chance, if it is that's one of my old cars as well

Nice one, so it's back down south again, how long did it take you to drive it down from Scotland or did you have it delivered/collected?

being collected so still not here yet

Its home and ive spent the day cleaning it



Needs some paint doing so get to acouple of shows then stripping it out over winter

Bring it along to "all Granadas together" at Wicksteed park next weekend, you don't need to book or be in a club just turn up
