RPM Tickover
Hi me again....
What RPM should read on the rev counter at tickover?
Iv lost the screw/bolt to ajust idle speed any idea what size thread?
The knocking/ticking noise from front left comes and goes.I went over a speed bump and it started.4 miles later gone? Happens in a straight line. Its LOUD coz pedestrians look.
Still not had a chance to chk out the auto box but will let you know soon how I get on. Thanks

Re: RPM Tickover
Idle speed should be roughly between 850 and 1000 RPM, too slow and it will stall on full lock with the power steering taking power from the engine, too fast and it snatches into gear and is noisy, some autos are set higher to allow for when it is put into drive but it's really a case of tweaking it until it is what you feel most comfortable with

Re: RPM Tickover
Idle should be set with hot engine and vehicle in drive. It should be 750-800. Look at your anti roll bar links and check the rubbers, also check the Tie bar rubbers.
