Is it a big job to fit a cossie engine and box into the mk2
also what other car alloys fit straight on to hubs (Merc ?)

Depends on your opinion of big! The engine has the same mounts as the V6 in the mk2 so will bolt straight in. Do you want auto or manual? The 4 speed auto box in the Cossie is bigger and longer than the C3 or C4 transmissions, you would need to modify the gearbox x/member, also the prop would need to be modified to take the U/J from a Cossie prop. For manual you would need to source a type 9 or mt75 box with the right bellhousing. Flywheel and clutch would also be needed.

Dont forget the looms for the engine and box + ecu's for box and lump too.You will have to bash the transmission tunnel here and there and make mount for shift mechanism. You may also want the LSD from the cossie as well.

This transplant has been done and is well possible, but its quite a long and complicated one. Good luck mate and if you go ahead I can supply wiring diagrams for the looms.

Yes you are right, Merc alloys will fit but tend to have more offset than the Ford rims.

Will the type 9 be ok? i have heard that these don't last very long with a Cossie engine bolted to them.

The type nine in good condition should cope, but its usual to fit H/D bearings Wink
