Hi all,
Names Mike, I have 1984 ghia that was in need of a engine as the old one had passed its "Best before" date. The rest of the car was in great shape so it was worth keeping. A Rover 3.9 V8 was fitted by myself along with a 5-speed manual Mustang T5 gearbox, not the T5 from the Cosworth. The mustang T5 was chosen due to its higher overdrive gearing of 0.63. That gives me a 30 mpg figure driven wearing slippers or 25 mpg when in a .....er ..... hurry. I had a decent bank account at the time - not so healthy now!
I have had other Mk2 cars before and so I was able to spot the rot and sort it fast.
The rear sills due to the sunroof draining system (common fault) was soon sorted both the damage and drainage system.
Got some spares here if anyone is out there (quiet site) including 5xTRX wheels in great shape and a "type 9" 5-speed with V6 bell, also good but no good behind a V8 it would wreck it. Prices? Parts no good to me, I could scrap them or sell them for a song, note the word song - not a musical drama. Other spares available.
